The Wombat first grade finished the competition in style with a 50 – 5 victory over Blayney in Blayney. They showed great discipline in the face of a heavy penalty count against them and gradually gained the superiority they deserved. They now have to play Blayney in the minor semi next Sunday in Mudgee and have to feel confident of reaching the final the following week where they should play the loser of the CSU v Narromine major semi. Second grade also showed great determination and courage to outlast a very strong Blayney second grade side 22 – 17. The seconds now will play Narromine next Saturday in the major semi in Narromine. It will be a difficult task but this team has shown great improvement throughout the year and could well take their place in the grand final after next week. Good luck Wombats! Meanwhile the women travelled to Orange to take on the Emus and unfortunately were convincingly defeated, leaving them in eighth place on the ladder. This is a good effort when you consider the women’s comp has 15 teams competing. The juniors all played away and struggled after the holiday break. The 13s went down to Wellington 35 – 0, the 15s were beaten by Forbes 28 – 17 and the 17s lost 17 – 5 to Orange City.
