SECONDS INTO GRAND FINAL
The senior Wombats came agonisingly close to having both grades in the grand final next weekend against Narromine. The seconds kicked things off with a hard-fought victory over the students, 18 – 12 and in doing so became the first senior men’s team to make a grand final for some years. They fully deserved their win and should do well in the grand final at Narromine next Saturday. Unfortunately the first grade went down 32 – 29 in an exciting match that was in the balance until the final whistle. The Wombats can be proud of their efforts this year going further in the competition than last year in both grades. They can look forward to further improvement in 2020 and perhaps even more success. We need all the supporters we can muster to travel to Narromine next week to spur our boys on to a victory and the second grade premiership. Meanwhile the juniors met with mixed success with the 13s going down to Cowra/Canowindra 70 – 12. However the 15s had a good win over Orange Emus 36 – 5 to remain in second place on the ladder and the 17s defeated Wellington/Rhinos 29 – 5 to remain top of the table. While the seniors play their grand final next week, the junior have one more round before entering into their finals series. Up the mighty Wombats!
