PLEASING PERFORMANCES IN PARKES!

While the field days were happening in Mudgee, the senior club made the long trip to Parkes and while they didn’t come away with a win they showed that, under the circumstances, their performances were very pleasing indeed.. HUGE THANKS TO FIELD DAY VOLUNTEERS!

The Mudgee Rugby Community came together in a huge team effort to man the gates and organise the parking at the annual Small Farm Field Days last weekend. It was one the largest field days yet  and with the seniors playing away on Saturday and some junior groups away in Sydney, it required a super effort from the club and it was pleasing to see many people stepping up to the mark. SECONDS HAVE BIG WIN OVER CSU!

The Wombat second grade played outstanding rugby to dominate CSU at Bathurst last Saturday. Featuring doubles by Will Dargan, Tom Purcell and club president, Luke “Tall Timber” Humphreys who was returning from an enforced absence due to illness, the seconds ran away with the match in the second half to win 59 – 0. SUCCESSFUL GALA DAY!

The Mudgee sub junior gala day was a great success once again with teams from all over the Central West converging on the Glen Willow grounds on Sunday. The youngsters were obviously enjoying themselves which is the object of the exercise. The day featured a number of young junior Wombats who assisted with the refereeing. WOMEN INTO FINALS CONTENTION!

The Wombat women put themselves into finals contention when they defeated Cootamundra at Cowra on Saturday by 35 -22. Down at half time the ladies made a huge comeback in the second half to comfortably take the match. Well done ladies! The Wombats second grade side came close to pulling off a huge upset on Saturday at Jubilee Oval but were thwarted at the last minute by competition frontrunners, Narromine.
