28 TEAMS TO CONTEST 30TH SEVENS HEAVEN!

Twenty eight  teams have entered the Bowdens Silver Mudgee Rugby Sevens to be held on the 6th October at the Glen Willow Sporting Complex. It will be the 30th anniversary of the event which has run continuously since 1988. A new format this year has attracted teams from around the state. EAGLES VISIT SUCCESS!

While the NSW Country Eagles may not have been successful in the main event, going down by a large margin to the Melbourne Rising, they were certainly successful in the way in which they embraced the Mudgee rugby community. They took every opportunity to become involved with a number of events and gave their time freely, especially with the young Wombats. NSW COUNTRY EAGLES IN MUDGEE!

The NSW Country Eagles will play the Melbourne Rising in a National Rugby Championship match at Glen Willow this Saturday. Fans, especially the youngsters, will be able to get up close to the players during a captain’s run on Friday afternoon between 5 and 6 pm. 13s COURAGEOUS IN GRAND FINAL!

The Wombat 13s went down in their 2018 grand final but were courageous in defeat, producing a valiant effort against the strong Dubbo Blue outfit. Dubbo jumped out of the blocks and posted two tries early. It appeared a blowout was on the cards but the young Wombats settled down and played some outstanding rugby to force their way back into the game. 13s INTO GRAND FINAL!

The Wombat 13s stormed into the grand final after a resounding 26 – 10 victory over the Cowra/Canowindra side in the preliminary final played at Wellington last Saturday. They will now have another crack at the minor premiers, Dubbo Blue, for the Central West title.
