PERFECT WEATHER FOR OLD BOYS DAY!

With perfect autumn weather, Old Boys Day was a great success off the field and met with mixed success on it. Plenty of players from the past attended and many stories were told of previous heroic deeds which become more enhanced with the passing of time. OLD BOYS REUNION!

This Saturday (18/5) we will be celebrating Old Boys Day and , in particular, a reunion of the 1998 and 2009 premiership winning teams. Everyone is welcome to join in the festivities. A GREAT DAY TO BE A WOMBAT!!

All sections of the club met with success last Saturday with the first grade leading the way, producing a gutsy away win against Blayney. With about half the regular first grade missing due to injury and unavailability, the replacements stepped up and fought a determined opposition and a large penalty count to emerge victors 17 – 5. FIRSTS MAKE IT TWO IN A ROW!

The Wombat First Grade had their second successive victory when they travelled to Dubbo on Saturday and comprehensively defeated the Rhinos by 40 – 5. In what was at times a scrappy affair, the Wombats displayed much better discipline and organisation than their opponents, running in 5 tries to one. GREAT DAY AT GLEN WILLOW!

Rugby supporters were treated to a wonderful day of rugby at the first class facility that is Glen Willow Stadium in beautiful autumn weather last Saturday. The Wombat women kicked things off against Bathurst and while the game was close for some time the Bulldogs were too good and ended up victors by 50 – 19.
